Caught Up Together: The Next Great Event

These are perilous times. We look around us and see that the world has grown darker and more evil. We perceive the hearts of people growing hateful and cold. Governments are corrupt. The perverse rise up and censor and mock the righteous. God is relegated to a corner and told to be quiet. Christians are silent and say little for fear of ridicule or loss.

These are the days predicted by the scriptures in which God would end the evil of this world and bring the light of His kingdom to earth. The world doesn’t expect Jesus to come. In fact, they laugh at the idea. Even Christians have difficulty accepting that Jesus will come again, believing the lie of the scoffer who asks: “where is the promise of Jesus coming?” Continue reading “Caught Up Together: The Next Great Event”

The Calm Before The Storm: What Did Trump Mean?

What did President Trump mean by his statement: “This is the calm before the storm?” For many, this may be an indication of an impending war. For those who watch the world through the lens of Bible Prophecy, we understand that Donald Trump is a sort of Cyrus from the Old Testament who God used during perilous times to accomplish His will.

Today, all around us we are seeing signs that should tell us that something is about to happen. The Bible is very clear that nothing takes place on earth or in the heavens apart from God’s knowledge.

Without the knowledge of many people in the world today, God has been following a carefully scripted plan that He determined before He made the universe.

Was President Trump's Statement: "The Calm Before The Storm," An Inadvertent Prophecy?

President Trump was recently gathered with many of his military leaders and made the statement: “This is the calm before the storm?” Some pundits have conjectured that this is an indication of an impending war. For those who watch the world through the lens of Bible Prophecy, we have come to understand that Donald Trump may be a sort of Cyrus from the Old Testament who God used during perilous times to accomplish His will.

The statement, “calm before the storm,” is very similar to Paul’s declaration in 1 Thessalonians 5:3: ” For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” Paul made this statement in context with the term: “Day Of The Lord,” an inference to the seven year Tribulation Period described by Daniel in chapter 9. At the end of the age, a world leader will appear on the scene who will make a covenant of peace between Israel and the surrounding nations for seven years. During the first three and one-half years there will be a tremendous time of peace on the earth. Suddenly, at the mid-point of the seven years, this world leader will command the world to worship him as God. The Book of Revelation, Jesus, and Daniel, all state that this will begin the Time of Great Tribulation in which two-thirds of the people on earth will die by twenty-one horrendous judgements. The Certainty of the Messianic Prophecies

COPYRIGHT WARNING

After Jesus had risen from the dead He told His disciples that everything He had said and done were direct fulfillments of what had been written for the Messiah. The Old Testament scriptures were constructed by God so that the world would know and understand that Jesus is the true Messiah. The fact that the Jews, did not receive their Messiah when He came, was also predicted by the prophets. Jesus held the jewish leaders responsible to know these prophecies and prepare the people for His arrival. The Jewish nation and people failed to recognize that time of their visitation. Jesus pronounced judgment upon their nation in a blindness that would last until the final days. That blindness has continued for nearly 2,000 years. Just 38 years after the nation of Israel rejected their Messiah, the Roman army destroyed Israel and the Temple and disbursed the Jews throughout the world.

Then Jesus said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  —Luke 24:44-47 Continue reading “The Certainty of the Messianic Prophecies”

The Death and Resurrection of the Messiah Predicted by the Old Testament

COPYRIGHT WARNING

After writing several books regarding the Messianic Prophecies which Jesus fulfilled in the New Testament scriptures, I am still amazed by those who assert that Jesus did not fulfill any of these predictions. One of the texts that is most profound in validating Jesus as the Messiah, is observed in the descriptions of the prophet Isaiah in chapters 52 and 53. This morning I was reading through these verses in The Living Bible and I was struck by their exact portrayal of the actual events that took place in Jesus’ life.

It is impossible to discount the fact that Isaiah wrote these texts more than 700 years before Jesus was born. In fact, all of the scholarly Rabbi’s in Israel attributed the text of Isaiah 53 to the Messiah up until the 12th century. It was at that time that a change occurred where these men began to assert that Isaiah was describing the nation of Israel, not the Messiah. This becomes tenuous when we consider that verse 8 describes the Servant dying for the sins of Israel. If we insert Israel into this verse we have Israel dying for the sins of Israel. This is further illustrated by the following verse (9) that would require Israel would be innocent of sin and therefor suffering unjustly.

Verse 8: “For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.”
Verse 9: “He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal …” Continue reading “The Death and Resurrection of the Messiah Predicted by the Old Testament”

What would it be like to hear Jesus speak in the native language of the first century? Most of us have only heard Jesus speak english in the films that depict His life, death, and resurrection. Watch Jim Caviezel as he portrays Jesus and speaks to those gathered before Him in the ancient Aramaic language. You will be stunned as you realize that this is how He sounded as He spoke to His disciples in Jerusalem, 2,000 years ago.
